PlayAreaOS in the UAE
PlayAreaOS is play area software built in Dubai for venues in the UAE: dirhams and VAT that belong to your venue, payroll that exports the WPS bank file and the MOHRE SIF, WhatsApp as the channel families answer, and a POS that keeps selling when the mall Wi-Fi drops.
What a UAE venue gets on top
PlayAreaOS runs a play area anywhere: the POS, the timers, the waivers, the parties, the passes, the rota, the stock and the books are the same wherever the venue is, and the currency, the tax rate and every word a family reads are set by the venue itself. What is different here is that it was built in Dubai, so the things a UAE business has to get right every single month, the WPS file the bank will accept, gratuity that accrues correctly, VAT on every receipt, a parent who only ever replies on WhatsApp, were in from the start rather than bolted on later.
What follows is that part: running a kids' play area, soft play centre, trampoline park or family entertainment centre in the Emirates. The rest of the product, which is most of it, is on the features pages and the venue pages.
Dirhams and VAT
Your venue trades in AED at its own VAT rate, and every sale at the POS, every receipt, every party deposit and balance, every purchase order and every line of the profit and loss follows it. Package prices and service charges read the way you charge them.
- At the POS. Play time, café items, passes, vouchers and party balances ring up in dirhams, and the shift closes with its own takings by payment method.
- In finance. Photograph a supplier bill and watch it land in the books, with a running profit and loss beside it.
- On purchases. Purchase VAT sits on each line as stock is received, so the input side is there when your accountant asks for it.
What a tax invoice has to carry, and where a party deposit lands, are covered in the guide to VAT for a UAE play area. The VAT pricing calculator turns a net price into a shelf price and back again.
Payroll, the WPS file and the SIF
Payroll is built around the UAE month. A raise this month never rewrites what someone was paid last month, and a completed pay run is a closed record you can hand to anyone.
- WPS bank file and MOHRE SIF. Exported from a completed run in the format the bank expects, so the month closes in one step instead of a spreadsheet and a template.
- Gratuity and end of service. Worked out from service and salary, so the figure is ready when someone leaves rather than argued about on the day.
- Air ticket. Accrued as the years go by and settled with the rest, so it never lands as a surprise.
- Leave. UAE statutory leave, including half-pay maternity and half-days, with approved leave blocking the rota so nobody is scheduled while they are away.
- Advances and loans. Entered once and repaid across the following runs until they are clear.
- Payslips. Staff read their own, so the monthly round of printed slips goes away.
The payroll page walks a month-end run through from start to finish.
Why WhatsApp is the family channel
In the UAE, a parent booking a party, asking about opening hours or wondering whether socks are included does it on WhatsApp. PlayAreaOS treats WhatsApp as the first channel and email as the second, rather than the other way round.
- One inbox. Family messages arrive where the desk and the office can both see them, tied to the customer record the POS already keeps.
- An answer at midnight. The auto-reply handles the questions families ask over and over, in your own words, so nobody waits until morning to hear your opening hours.
- Reminders. A nudge before a child's session ends, a reminder before a party, and a thank-you the day after.
- Campaigns. Welcome notes, birthdays, feedback and broadcasts, by WhatsApp and by email.
Your venue owns its own Meta business profile and its own message templates, so the number families recognise stays yours.
What about a play area inside a mall?
A unit inside a mall has its own constraints: a fixed floor plate, a landlord's connection you do not control, evenings that swing from empty to full within an hour, and often a second unit across town.
- The POS keeps selling offline. If the mall Wi-Fi drops, the counter carries on and catches up on its own when the connection returns.
- Occupancy against a real capacity. How many children are on the floor right now, against your branch's own capacity, so the desk knows when to hold the next family at the door.
- Timers and wristbands. Every child who is playing on one board, each clock matched to the colour band on their wrist, so an afternoon of drop-ins stays legible.
- A second unit is a branch. Each branch keeps its own capacity, cash, shifts, rota and reports under one organisation and one login, so the owner sees both malls without running two systems. What changes for a group with several units is set out separately.
- Forecasting. Expected seats, booked parties and a staffing suggestion for the days ahead, so the school-holiday rush and the quiet Ramadan afternoon are planned rather than guessed at.
Moving in from what you use today
Your families, your product list and your opening balances come across from your old POS or your spreadsheets, and you go live on a day that suits your venue rather than one you are handed. Your prices and packages arrive reading exactly as they read today. The switching page walks the whole move through.
Which UAE venues is it for?
- Kids' play areas, including single mall units run by one owner.
- Soft play centres with toddler and junior areas, a café and a party room.
- Trampoline parks where the day turns on waivers and timed jump sessions.
- Family entertainment centres running several attractions and branches under one office.
Getting started in the UAE
PlayAreaOS runs in any modern browser on the tablets, phones and laptops your venue already owns. Nothing to install, no hardware to buy. Everything a family reads, the waiver, the booking form, the price list, the feedback page and every message, is in your own words, and opens on the parent's phone from a QR code.
Every night your records are copied off-site, over an encrypted connection to storage that encrypts what it keeps. Questions about a venue in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or anywhere else in the Emirates go to info@playareaos.com.
Questions
Does PlayAreaOS work in dirhams with UAE VAT?
Yes. Your venue trades in AED at its own VAT rate, and every sale, receipt, party deposit and profit-and-loss line follows it. Your prices and rates are yours, and you can change them later whenever your venue needs to.
Can it produce the WPS file my bank needs?
Yes. A completed monthly pay run exports the WPS bank file or the MOHRE SIF, with gratuity, statutory leave and the air ticket handled inside the run. Staff read their own payslips in the app.
Why WhatsApp rather than email?
Because in the UAE that is where families already are. PlayAreaOS gives you a WhatsApp inbox, an auto-reply for the questions families ask every day, timer and party reminders, and welcome, birthday and feedback messages. Email is there too. Your venue owns its own Meta business profile.
Does the POS cope with mall Wi-Fi?
Yes. If the connection drops, the POS keeps selling; each sale is saved on the device and catches up on its own when the connection returns, so a Saturday afternoon carries on regardless.
How do I move my venue across from what I use now?
Your families, your product list and your opening balances come over from your old POS or your spreadsheets, and you go live on a day that suits your venue. The switching page walks the whole move through.
Can I run branches in more than one mall?
Yes. Each branch keeps its own capacity, cash, shifts, rota and reports under one organisation and one login, so the owner sees every mall from the same place.
